I work primarily through painting to address social relations and personal narratives surrounding migration, immigration, and notions about national heritage. I am interested in how they contend with identity construction while negotiating with abstraction and image-making as the site to model and consider this research. In recent years, this research and material exploration has orbited around the material culture of certain natural dyes as sites to excavate complex social/political histories and ecological dynamics to reframe a personal and contemporary reflection.
