Gabriella is a visual artist based in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Their work documents desire, intimacy, and the erotic rooted in their experiences in sex work, BDSM, and queerness. Their work has appeared in National Geographic, TIME, The New York Times, and The Nation and has been exhibited globally in museums and festivals. In 2020, they received several grants and awards, including from the Magnum Foundation Photography and Social Justice Fellowship and the Women Photograph + Nikon grant. Their 2022 debut photobook La gente deprimida tiene sexo sucio y ganas de morir was acquired by MoMA and the Whitney Museum of American Art’s Library. In 2023, their work in No Existe Un Mundo Poshuracán was acquired by the Whitney’s permanent collection.
