Şeyma Kaya

Şeyma Kaya is an artist from Istanbul. She works with water — as a form, a word, a metaphor, and a material. She searches for deep time in rocks and ripples. Spirals and concentric circles.

In between places, collective memories, fading memories, cosmic memories.

As a translator living in two languages, she carries words and images across the ocean. Embodied — she carries water from the Bosphorus, and uses this water when developing her films, making silver-gelatin prints, and marbling.
