Dylan Beckman is an artist based in Houston, TX and Brooklyn, NY. She approaches photography as a means of inquiry; an exploratory process to better understand the various conventions and methods of how we as a society convey truths to others. Her work employs sculpture and installation as a way of examining and subverting various mechanisms of imparting knowledge and history, such as interactive museum displays, historical reenactments, metaphorical demonstrations and gameplay. Fixated with artifice, she questions what it means for something to be real, the many iterations of how something can be “fake”, and grapples with what it means to toe that line.
