Brennen Steines: Painting/Printmaking MFA '22

Brennen Steines examines the material properties of painting and its correspondence with time, process, and abstraction. The paintings become a visceral record of their own creation, as the artist layers and excavates the surface of the works. The pitted and cratered surfaces simultaneously evoke geological formations and somatic topographies.
