Hyeree Ro was born in Seoul, South Korea. She was raised in Seoul, suburbs of Seoul, and Santa Rosa, California. Ro thinks, speaks, writes, dreams in both English and Korean, many times in a mixture of the two. She attended twelve different schools and has two bachelor’s degrees. Her interests lie in things that flee from being easily defined. Being careful not to define anything soon and postponing the defining as much as possible is important to her. Her sculptural, performative, and narrative-based works embody various aspects of life such as personal history, memories, places, cities, language, body, movement, and stories. Ro has shown at Korean Culture Centre (Ottawa, Canada), Ilmin Museum of Art (Seoul, Korea), Asia Culture Center (Gwangju, Korea), and Akiyoshidai International Village (Mine, Japan).
