Ellen is a designer and artist who is drawn to the eerie, external forces and pressures which subtly shape the body and its containing environments. Her work traces how these forces are channeled, often without awareness, through the self on an embodied and ultimately subconscious level. She isolates, misuses, and intervenes in mundane processes and technologies to tease out the strangeness present in familiar and unremarkable systems. She works across printed matter, moving image, drawing, and writing.
