Alixe Turner

Alixe is interested in how materials can represent the body and evoke 'events' within the painting. Frequently using carbon paper and body prints, she creates paintings that challenge our perception of the hierarchy between negative and positive space.
From geological formations to man-made landmarks, her works play with the paradox of negative and positive national consciousness and historical facts.

Alixe Turner’s gestures of erasure resonate with the physicality of her movements. Each stroke becomes a manifestation of memory and identity, bridging the gap between abstraction and personal experience.
