Jam Yoo

Jam Yoo (b. 1993, Baton Rouge, LA) is an interdisciplinary artist and art educator based in New Haven, CT. He received his BFA in 2016 from Cornell University College of Architecture, Art, and Planning. He is currently pursuing a MFA for painting and printmaking at Yale School of Art.

Yoo’s work explores ornamentation and iconography as a form of cultural hybridization in the context of globalization and the diaspora. With an expanded practice encompassing painting, drawing, collage, installation, time-based media, and sculpture, Yoo’s surfaces and forms examine the experience of looking and recognition as a rhizomatic experience of time and history.
