Leo Je-Eon Lee

Leo Je-Eon Lee (b. 1999, South Korea) stutters through language. Lee fidgets with words—imprinting them, burying them, pulling them back out, playing with them, cutting and rearranging them. Lee simultaneously refuses and embraces the ephemerality of talk by obsessively retrieving words that could be forgotten, only to grapple with their lingering discomfort. Lee engages in this self-inflicted compulsion, a repetitive practice that is inevitably burdensome yet grants a sense of safety.
