Elli Fotopoulou

Elli Fotopoulou is a visual artist born and raised in Athens, Greece. She has received classical musical training cello and music theory since she her early childhood. She graduated from Athens School of Fine Arts in 2020 and is currently pursuing an MFA in sculpture at the Yale School of Art. Elli, has received training in pedagogy, marble sculpting, molding, metal casting and photography. She has professional experience working in art production for highly esteemed artists in Athens and as a consultant in Neoset studios in New York. Her work focuses on the notion of space, human proximity and connection. Her interest lies in the dynamic of a pause, of a breath held and the frequencies that interconnect people. Using a large variety of processes and materials such as sound, experimental photographic printing techniques, memorabilia like animal bones and plants and various casting and metal practices, her work explores the space that exists in between. Most of her work consists of installations and environments in which the audience is invited or prompted to interact with their presence and be aware of their own physical and emotional limits and boundaries. In her most current work, she has been exploring sound and audible sculpture installations and sound objects/instruments.
